Case Study: Rapid estimation

BACKGROUND

Our client, a major Australian financial services organisation, was undergoing a massive integration program. The company was generating hundreds of integration ideas that required IT estimates to determine viability. IT was required to turnaround estimates within 30 days to +/- 10% and to maintain existing BAU activity. reveal group was approached to develop a rapid estimation process to deal with this high work load.

OUR ROLE

Our approach created a central unit that worked across 4 locations with links into over 70 business integration teams and all IT departments. A rapid estimation framework was aligned to integration timeframes to ensure the appropriate estimate was provided at each phase of integration. The process ensured that the estimate was developed on an iterative partnership basis with the business rather than on a supplier customer basis.

RESULT

reveal group's rapid estimation framework increased output significantly:

300 estimates were turned around on time in 30 days
There was no disruption to BAU activity
IT integration estimated spend was reduced by 30%
